Free Blogs for Public Relations Practitioners
AUBURN, Ala. (Oct.11) – PRblogs.org, a non-profit blogging community, has launched a blog hosting service designed to provide free blogs for public relations practitioners, educators and students around the world. The blogs are advertisement free and do not require start up or maintenance fees.
Robert French of InfOpinions? blog and AuburnMedia (USA), in association with James Farmer of incsub and incorporated subversion blog (Melbourne, Australia), started PRblogs.org as a non-profit educational project which provides students with tools to engage in conversation with classmates, educators and public relations practitioners. Students in French’s “PR Messages in Style & Design” classes at Auburn University first began to utilize their personal blogs on a weekly basis as a way to learn how to use blogs as a communication tool. Based on their success with the medium, these students will launch a campaign to encourage educators, students and practitioners to begin exploring the benefits of blogging.
“Blogs in PR are useful tools and tactics,” said French. “Practitioners, educators and students should become familiar with them. Our recent graduates have already encountered them in their new jobs. Now, students and educators may experiment with a free blog. PRblogs are intuitive, easy to operate blogging sites in a PR focused community.”
PRblogs.org makes creating a blog easy. Three steps will allow you to create a personal account: filling in a desired user name, password and email address, and receiving your password and URL by email. PRblogs.org runs on WordPress 1.6 Multiuser (WPMU). With WordPress 1.6, users can create a blog, rearrange blogging tools, reference a built in WYSIWYG editor and choose from multiple themes. PRblogs.org also offers a unique Web address: yourname.prblogs.org.
Please consider joining a network of students, educators and public relations practitioners in this online community. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced blogger, PRblogs.org is an excellent environment to sharpen your skills, gain experience and educate others in the process.
